Information on downloading Code Page 932 and Japanese
System fonts from Microsoft
Code Page 932
In order to view Unicode documents in RJ, you must have
Code Page 932 installed on your machine. If you are
running a Japanese version of Windows or Windows 2000, this code page is
automatically installed. If you are running an English
(or other language) version of Windows 95, 98 or NT, it may or may not
be installed. You can check for it by looking in your
"system32" directory for a file called c_932.nls.
If you do not have Code Page 932 installed on your machine,
you may obtain it by installing Microsoft®'s Japanese Language
Support. For instructions on adding Japanese language support to your English Windows system, see the article Browsing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Text under English Windows.
Japanese System Fonts
In order to view and print Japanese system fonts on English
Windows NT 4.0, you must have a fixed-width Japanese font
installed on your system. You can check whether you have
Japanese fixed-width fonts on your system by going to the
"Options|Fonts|System Fonts..." menu item in RJ and looking
for a Japanese font (a common Japanese system font is "MSGothic").
Note 1: If you are running Windows 2000, you may enable the Japanese system fonts on your machine, by selecting Start>Settings>Control Panel>Regional Options; and in the "Language Settings for the System" section checking the "Japanese" checkbox.
Note 2: English Windows 95 and English Windows
NT3.51 do not print or display Japanese system fonts.
Note 3: You can print with the RJ fonts at any time, on any of the supported platforms, without a system font.
If you do not have a Japanese system font installed on your machine,
you may obtain one by installing Microsoft®'s Japanese Language
Support. For instructions on adding Japanese language support to your English Windows system, see the article Browsing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Text under English Windows.
