KoreaWISEnut Takes Search Engine to International Markets with Basis Technologys Leading Unicode Library
Cambridge, MA, May 14, 2003 — Basis Technology today announced that KoreaWISEnut, Koreas leading search engine, has selected the Rosette Core Library for Unicode® to enable multilingual support in KoreaWISEnuts Web and enterprise search products. KoreaWISEnut is globalizing its technology for expansion into international markets.
Adding Unicode support to our source code is a critical step in our plans to expand into new markets outside of Korea, said Hosuk Choo, KoreaWISEnuts CEO. We chose the Rosette Core Library for Unicode because of its reputation as the leading cross-platform Unicode library and because of the outstanding product support offered by Basis Technology. Now we can easily add support for new languages while maintaining a single code base, saving us time and money when entering new countries.
Unicode is an international standard for representing all of the worlds languages under a single encoding system. Rosette Core Library for Unicode converts over 150 legacy encodings to Unicode and runs on all the major platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris, Linux, and others.
Were pleased that leading companies in Asia are accelerating their adoption of Unicode, said Carl Hoffman, Basis Technologys CEO. We are excited to help Asian companies become successful in international markets. Our mission is to enable companies to quickly prepare their technology for sale overseas, and our relationship with KoreaWISEnut further demonstrates how we are achieving that goal.
